New for 2022 : The stained glass workshop!

Come and create your own stained glass window!
This year, we’re offering a brand new activity based around stained glass! After a tour and explanation of the castle’s stained glass windows, create your own using tracing paper to understand the interplay of light and transparency, and leave the castle with your own personalised stained glass window.

The bread oven workshop

Come and discover the world of the Gizeux baker.
Built in the 18th century, the bread oven could feed up to a hundred people living in this large house. Now back in use, the bread oven will be brought back to life for a day to show you the various stages in bread’s manufacture.
Of course, the workshop will end with a tasting session where the children will be invited to share their bread rolls!

The egg painting workshop

Discover, make and use egg tempera paint!
First used in Antiquity, egg painting was used until the Renaissance by the greatest painters. Using paintings from the Galerie des Châteaux du Roy as models, the children use egg paint, having prepared it themselves with different pigments, to paint castle decorations.

The coat-of-arms workshop

Discover the secrets of heraldry.
First seen on the battlefield in the 12th century, this sign of recognition quickly became popular throughout medieval Europe. Discover the functions of heraldry in feudal society and its traces in contemporary society.

Learn to decipher and understand the symbolism of colours and objects. Then create your coat of arms while developing your artistic sensibility

The Monogram Workshop

The monogram

Visible on several occasions in the Galerie François The 1st,
the monogram of Princess Marie d’Yvetôt is a true signature.

Learn how to decode the ancestor of the logo and create your own monogram using the codes and language of this art form.

The Fauna and Flora workshop

An educational outing for all seasons.
