Thursday 15 August: Dive into history at Château de Gizeux!

This Thursday 15 August, take a day trip back in time, from the Musketeers to Louis XV!

From 10.30am to 7pm, more than 80 local producers, artists and craftspeople come together to give you an unforgettable day out.

For a bite to eat, you can enjoy the warm, friendly atmosphere of the local inns and taverns.

With over 200 people in costume, historical re-enactment associations, fencers, musicians, waders, dancers, falconers, equestrian trainers and more… Experience the atmosphere of the 18th century and immerse yourself in history, between the present and the past!

To round off the day in style, there’s the Scénofolie, a spectacular play retracing the history of the castle, with almost a hundred actors on stage!

From 8 June to 8 August: exhibition of paintings and photos

Come and discover the new temporary exhibition from 8 June to 8 August 2024! Using a combination of photography and painting, brothers Jean-François and Patrice Naturel have redecorated the château’s dining room, outbuildings and summer rooms. The exhibition preview will take place on Saturday 15 June from 5pm, when you can chat with the artists during a guided tour, followed by a drink. Patrice Naturel has been painting for more than 30 years, and his first exhibition in Gizeux was held in 2003. In 2024, armed with a wealth of experience and a singular personal technique, he returned as a duo with his older brother and proposed two highly up-to-date themes: The earth is close to us and Taking care. Initially a photographer by trade, Jean-François Naturel has developed documentary photography, focusing on architecture and urban planning. In 2022, he became an author-photographer with the Maison des Artistes, and unveiled a much more personal approach: making reality a little less ordinary. Exhibition accessible on the château’s visitor trail, from 8 June to 8 August 2024. Vernissage Saturday 15 June at 5pm.

Save the château chapel!

This winter, help protect France’s heritage and become a patron of the Château de Gizeux by contributing to the crowdfunding campaign for the chapel and its decor!

The Credofunding platform is hosting this campaign to help finance the major structural and roofing work.

Bonus: if you pay tax in France, your donation can be deducted from your tax bill! Further information is available from the association La Demeure Historique, which is supporting us.

It’s a collective project that’s both rewarding and meaningful for all lovers of old buildings!
