During roofing work, we discovered that it was originally topped by a cross! But after it fell at the beginning of the 20th century, the bell tower was hastily restored, and the cross was never rebuilt.

The crowdfunding campaign is hosted and monitored by the association La Demeure Historique, an accredited body that issues tax receipts and guarantees the proper use of the funds raised, the validity of the work and the selection of craftsmen approved by the French Historic Monuments Agency to carry out the work.

For 100 years, La Demeure Historique has been representing and supporting those involved in heritage, such as the owner-managers of private historic monuments and gardens, in their public-interest mission to conserve, pass on and promote historic sites. Founded in 1924 and recognised as a charitable organisation since 1965, La Demeure Historique now brings together more than 3,000 monuments.
