The Medieval Château

Medieval remains

Archives reveal that a wooden fortress was present on the site during the eleventh century.

This early fortress has completely disappeared. The oldest remaining sections of the château are the entrance tower, the south ‘medieval’ wing, and the ramparts.

Dated precisely in 1334, these three sections constitute the medieval vestiges of Gizeux.
